91000 Bicycles Recalled Because of Fall Hazard

Last week, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced Bridgeway International’s voluntary recall of approximately 91,000 bikes.  The bikes were recalled because of an alleged safety defect that could lead the bicycle chain to break and the rider to fall.  The bikes include the NEXT 26 inch hybrid men’s bikes that recently sold at Walmart for about $100.

So far the company is reporting 11 incidents that resulted in 9 injuries.  Consumers are urged to stop riding the bikes and to contact the company for a free repair.

Additionally, those who have been injured should seek medical attention since fall injuries can be serious and may not be readily apparent.
