Complaints against home contractors account for more consumer complaints to the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs than nearly any other issue, according to a recent statement by the Acting Director of the agency. There are many reasons for the complaints. Some have to do with billing, for example, while others have to do with shoddy construction that the contractor is unwilling to fix.
Substandard construction is not only a matter of getting what you pay for, it can also be a potential liability. If someone is hurt in your home because of construction work that did not meet state requirements and you knew (or should have known) about the problem and failed to take reasonable steps to fix it then you may be liable for their injuries.
Do not let poor contractors hurt you, your loved ones or your friends. Instead stand up for your rights and insist that the job is done right.
