A recent study from the West Virginia School of Medicine has found that women who have higher amounts of perfluocarbon in their blood may be at increased risk of early onset menopause. Perfluocarbon is a chemical found in Teflon and other products. Perfluocarbons are believed to alter the way hormones work in the body. The study which followed approximately 26,000 women between the ages of 18 and 65 found that increased perfluocarbons interfered with the female hormone estradiol which may contribute to early menopause.
